Volunteers have cleared plastic waste and other pollutants from the beaches and the land and marine areas of Magawish island at Hurghada. The clean-up was run by the Red Sea reserves together with Red Sea Rotary clubs and young people from the Health Ambassadors initiative.

The Red Sea reserves said plastic waste is a direct threat to coral reefs and marine creatures, and that events of this kind are also meant to spread environmental awareness, particularly among young people.
